Steve also presented the weekend mid-morning shows, and Sunday evening show, on Manchester's Key 103. Steve started his career at the station, and was such a success that in 1996 he joined London's Capital Radio, and then in 2000 joined Virgin Radio to present the breakfast show.

Steve is most famous for his hilarious wind-up calls, his most notorious on-air wind-up caused a sensation when Steve called Tony Blair at Number 10. This was a national news story, breaking on the Nine O' Clock and Ten O' Clock News respectively and making the front pages of all the national newspapers. Steve has also launched a successful TV career presenting primetime Saturday night shows including "TV's Naughtiest Blunders" and "TV Nightmares". He's also hosted a 40th anniversary "The Way They Were Coronation Street Special", and makes countless other TV appearances.
